I had been playing for around 3 months before I started having lessons with Chris and that's when my playing really started to improve.

Chris is incredibly knowledgeable about not just bluegrass and folk music but music in general and I learnt so much from him.

Chris is a great guy who also puts a lot of work into hosting a monthly bluegrass and folk music jam session which provides a great opportunity to play with other people. If you are looking to get lessons, I would 100% recommend Chris for the job!

"Learning Banjo with Chris has been a revelation!

Recently retired I wanted to try and learn a new instrument , playing for my own enjoyment and to entertain family and friends.

A couple of months in and I can already play basic songs and some great banjo classics, Chris has made the process very easy indeed!"

"I started to learn guitar in my early 50's and went for lessons with Chris. Chris not only taught me to play but introduced me to American Bluegrass and Old- Time music. This enabled me to develop quickly and soon to enjoy the world of music making with others.

Seven years on, I now play in bands, at sessions and make music with friends from all over the country and festivals"

"I've known Chris for about 15 years . Initially I had banjo lessons with him and although I wasn't an absolute beginner Chris introduced me to leading a tune as well as the importance of being able to back up other people when they are playing. This has proved to be a  very important aspect when jamming with others.

As my main musical interests are bluegrass and old-time American music, Chris has been able to direct me over the years to festivals, workshops, music schools ( like Sore Fingers Summer School) and jamming sessions associated with this genre of music. All of this has given me many happy hours of music and fun which continues this day and I thank  him for his help and enthusiasm."
